Anyone on here who doesn't come from the East End & why do you support West Ham
I was born in Wandsworth, lived in .Tooting, Islington and now tottenham,
My brother was a West Ham fan since the Ted Fenton era and I went along with him around 63/4. Loved the menacing atmosphere, crude language and humour. Been going ever since.

I didn't originally although have lived in the East End. I supported them as a glory hunter in the 60s.

Never lived in East London, or any part of London. Picked West Ham in 1968 when I was 7, whilst living in the East Midlands so I must have been a glory hunter, or just like the colours. Have been a mad hammer ever since and a season ticket holder with my eldest boy for over ten years. Living in West Sussex now.

Born in Weston Super mare and still live down here in Somerset.
Coming from a family not that bothered about football it was a mate from school that had West Ham roots so I followed them just because he did.
We got a coach to Birmingham in 1985/86 for the game away to West Brom and the rest is history.
Regularly on the coach to London years ago (12 hour round trip for normally a wasted 90 Mins)
Taking the next generation now too as my 10 year old girl loves it.

Grew up in rural Buckinghamshire but was somewhat impressed when West Ham won the World Cup in 1966 - I was 8 years old. Been hooked ever since and can't fucking stand West Ham fans from the East End who look down their noses at those who aren't so can't be proper supporters. Fucking get over yourselves.

Always lived in South West London, but first took an interest in football during the 1966 World Cup. Started going to West Ham to watch Moore, Hurst and Peters.

About 90% of the kids at my school were Chelsea fans, and they have been my most hated club ever since.

grew up in SE London, my family were all split between us and millwall. went to see both as a kid but chose west ham coz my brother supported millwall.
i'm one of the lucky ones in their 30's who has never seen west ham win anything.

Re: Anyone on here who doesn't come from the East End & why do you support West Ham
Lived in Southgate N London. Very much Spurs or Arsenal territory
Arsenal were a horrible, dirty, boring, side to watch in the early 60's & Spurs were such a bunch of arrogant twats in the early 60's (having won the double) when I started going to matches as a 12yo
I watched both & didn't like either!
A mate at school supported West Ham & I went with him when his dad took us to a couple of matches
Once I'd watched Bobby Moore play, that was it. Hooked for life
Then we won the cup, the ECWC etc playing fantastic football
I thought our success was never going to stop!
I finished up working in Barking for about a year before moving up North

Stevenage, the prototype new town shithole. Loads of shipped out Londoners, particularly East Londoners rehoused after the war so plenty of West ham fans around. My older brother supported West Ham and that was that.

We're not even an east end club.

I'm from east London and have never looked down on anyone who wasn't from east London supporting us. I've always been intrigued if anything. I'll tell you what did fuck me off was when people who may or may not be east London started slagging off the area around Upton park and by doing so insulting the fabric of West ham. There was a lot of this shit talk when people were justfying our move to the bowl. It wasn't the most salubrious of areas granted but when people slag off part of my heritage and west hams for that matter it gets on my bristols

There was one wan in my village in Lesotho that had a television. There was no electricity, so he rigged up a generator and an elaborate system of levers and pulleys and we all gathered in his hut to watch West Ham V Liverpool in the 2006 FA cup final.

Grew up near Kingston upon Thames.

Was impressed by the 1975 FA cup final (yes, glory hunter) at a fairly young age.

Assumed West Ham must be from the place 'Ham' between Kingston and Richmond and therefore my local team.

Idiot.

Re: Anyone on here who doesn't come from the East End & why do you support West Ham
I was born and raised in Worcester, West MIds. In the late sixties I used to watch Star Soccer and I always enjoyed the way that West Ham used to play football, fast, attacking. My Geography was poor so I started to support West Ham. In my early teens about six friends who were fellow WHU supporters would travel down to London to games. We all loved the football and the fans. although I watch my grandson play rugby these days some of my friends and family still go and watch WHU regularly

Re: Anyone on here who doesn't come from the East End & why do you support West Ham
I'm not from the East End and nor are any of my family. Both parents are from West London and I was brought up in Surrey on the outskirts of Greater London.

The first game my Dad ever saw was a game that you all might have heard of in 1966 which he watched on his neighbours tv. He started supporting West Ham as a result and that was passed down.

I was born in Toronto and followed the Cockney Rejects, Cock Sparrer and the Business - all solid West Ham supporters.

Cockney Rejects will finally be coming to Toronto this July - can't wait.
